6th DORCHESTER VINTAGE BUS AND COACH RUNNING DAY

Sunday 15th August 2021 10am – 4pm with runs in and out from 9.30am – 4.30pm)

Dear Vehicle Owner

Following the disappointment of having to cancel the event last year, there is a growing sense of optimism that Covid restrictions will have eased sufficiently enough for us to stage another running day this year. Notwithstanding a last minute change of circumstances beyond our control, you are warmly invited to take part in this year’s event at Dorchester, being held again at the Top o’ Town Car Park, courtesy of Dorset Council.   Please use this form to enter your vehicle, or print off another if entering more than one. So that we can include your entry in the programme we would appreciate a recently scanned photo of your vehicle and details of its life history into preservation. This, together with the entry form can be sent to Paul Madge at the address below, or preferably emailed to him. Please write clearly and in black ink. We intend to have programmes ready two weeks in advance and vehicle owners will be sent a copy of this together with their running duties.

Special note: For the safety and respect of all passengers we hope this event will be as enjoyable as possible. In this respect WHOTT expects everyone to observe all current safety measures applicable on the day including, where necessary, socially distance seating and the wearing of face masks. Our marshals and conductors will politely ensure these rules are adhered to.

Advisory notes:

WHOTT is adhering to the recommended guidelines published by the National Association of Road Transport Museums (NARTM) in regard to the status of vehicle(s) and driver(s). Vehicles registered before 11th

August 1981 do not need a MoT but if carrying passengers at this event must have a note of roadworthiness signed by an independent and competent examiner who has signed off the vehicle in accordance with the DVSA inspection manual. Vehicles built after 11th August 1981 must have a current MoT Class 5 or Class 6 certificate. Vehicles first licensed before 1st January 1981 do not need road fund tax.  Vehicles used in service must have insurance that covers full passenger loads. A copy of your insurance and MoT (or alternative) must accompany this application. If renewal dates fall after 3rd July please ensure that the later one is also copied to us together with proof, where necessary, that the vehicle is currently taxed on the event date. All vehicles used in service must carry a conductor and be driven by the holder of an appropriate licence. If you require further information please contact Paul Madge on 07817-489113. In planning the vehicle rosters it will be helpful to know the number of hours you are willing to drive. In May 2018 new legislation came into force regarding the disclosure of personal details. In observing this we will not publish details of owners unless they tick the box to the contrary. DUTY CARDS WILL BE MAILED TO PARTICIPATING ENTRANTS PRIOR TO THE 15th AUGUST.
