Vintage Stony

Sat 1st January 2020- The 12th 'Vintage Stony' from 9-30am to 2pm, in the centre of Stony Stratford in Buckinghamshire. MK11 1BE. The Four Counties Classic (FCC)

 is a free gathering for all pre-1990 classic cars. The gatherings take place from 9am to noon on the first and third Saturdays of every month throughout the year at Botley Hill Farmhouse, an early 16th century country inn on Limpsfield Road, Warlingham, Surrey CR6 9QH. This is 3 miles south of Warlingham on the B269. For those who need sustenance, Botley Hill Farmhouse serves breakfast from 9.30am.

The event is a static gathering in the midst of some some wonderful driving roads though the scenic North Downs. When the weather is kind we often have as many as 130 cars in attendance. One reason for the success of the gathering is its geographical location close to the borders between four counties. We have regular members who come from Surrey, Greater London, Kent and Sussex. There are probably more classic cars in these four counties than anywhere else in the country - if not the world.

WINCHESTER FREE VINTAGE BUSES 

 3rd JANUARY 2022

The Winchester-based Friends of King Alfred Buses (FoKAB) has confirmed details of the services it will operate on Bank Holiday Monday 3^rd January 2022.   

Whilst in keeping with the policy of recent years, the main Running Day will be in the spring on Bank Holiday Monday 2^nd May 2022, a smaller operation involving around six King Alfred vehicles will again take place on Monday 3^rd January 2022. This will maintain a long-established tradition and provide a service for the many supporters who would still like to travel on these historic buses during the winter. As usual, the bus services will be centred on the Broadway in Winchester with the first journey leaving at 09:15 and the last at 16:20. 

A full timetable will be available and copies may be obtained in advance by post from:

Notes for Editors

Friends of King Alfred Buses (FoKAB) is a registered charity dedicated to preserving King Alfred buses and coaches and the memory of King Alfred Motor Services which provided Winchester's local bus services between 1920 and 1973. It has over thirty years' experience of giving nostalgic rides on its fleet of 14 restored heritage buses.

The annual Original King Alfred Running Day has attracted over 20,000 passenger trips and been supported by over 70 active volunteers from within FoKAB's membership, plus the bus crews of numerous visiting heritage buses and coaches.

FoKAB provides heritage transport for a number of community and charity events. Such journeys are all provided by volunteers at no charge to the users.

However, because FoKAB is not a commercial operator, it is unable to hire out its buses to members of the public.
