    Classic Events August 2020

1

The Four Counties Classic (FCC) is a free gathering for all pre-1990 classic cars. The gatherings take place from 9am to noon on the first and third Saturdays of every month throughout the year at Botley Hill Farmhouse, an early 16th century country inn on Limpsfield Road, Warlingham, Surrey CR6 9QH. This is 3 miles south of Warlingham on the B269. For those who need sustenance, Botley Hill Farmhouse serves breakfast from 9.30am.

The event is a static gathering in the midst of some some wonderful driving roads though the scenic North Downs. When the weather is kind we often have as many as 130 cars in attendance. One reason for the success of the gathering is its geographical location close to the borders between four counties. We have regular members who come from Surrey, Greater London, Kent and Sussex. There are probably more classic cars in these four counties than anywhere else in the country - if not the world.

DATE CONFIRMED FOR LANDMARK 30th ANNIVERSARY SILVERSTONE CLASSIC

• Next summer’s Silverstone Classic verified for 31 July- 2 August
• Special anniversary three-day festival all set to be the best ever
• Packed retro race programme features cream of international historic racing action
• Two more great crowd-pleasing grids confirmed for 2020
• Feast of off-track activities and entertainment for families of all ages
• Super Early Bird tickets still available… but only until the end of December

With the British Grand Prix at Silverstone now rubber stamped for Sunday 19 July, the Silverstone Classic can officially take its traditional place in the calendar a fortnight after Formula One headlines at the home of British motor racing.

Taking place at the start of the summer holidays, the hugely-popular three-day Classic is expecting over 100,000 attendees plus a star-studded line-up of drivers – more so having avoided date clashes with other high-profile UK motor sport events such as the British Touring Car Championship and FIA Formula E’s intriguing London E-Prix.

Full information about the 2020 Silverstone Classic entertainment programme – including more exciting new races, special car club celebrations and live music performers – will be announced in the coming months. All the latest news will be available at silverstoneclassic.com and via its social media platforms.

Evening all Wallingford

Cancelled moved to the 9th May 2021

It is with deep regret to inform you that the postponed Wallingford Vehicle Rally & Parade 2020 on Sunday 2nd August has had to be cancelled. The current government guidelines in place won’t allow us to have such an event at this time, we delayed as long as we could but unfortunately the Covid19 situation has gone on longer than everyone expected.

However, all those who purchased tickets for the 2020 event can either request a refund (follow the link on your ticket confirmation) or we are allowing your purchase to be valid for the 2021 event which will be held on SUNDAY 9th MAY 2021. So if we don’t hear from you, we will simply send you information and wrist bands in April for the event.

However, it’s not all bad news!

We are currently in negotiations to hold a short driving tour around the area on Sunday 2nd August for all those purchased any ticket for this year’s event. We are currently working on a route that won’t cause disruption to the usual traffic and will contact everyone via email very soon with details. It will be free of charge, all we would ask is that you make a small donation in the collection buckets on the day or via the crowd funder link we will be setting up nearer the time so we can then share this with the local charitable causes who we usually assist who are struggling for funding during these trying times.

Thank you for your patience, we are disappointed we are unable to hold the event this year but the health of participants, traders, staff and general public have to be our prime concern. Stay safe and we will be in touch with ticket holders this week and please keep an eye on our social media for updates for Sunday 2nd August 2020 mini “Lockdown Parade”.

Thank you

Registration will open on 01/03/2020. Pre-Registration will close one week before the show on Sunday 09/08/2020 at midnight or as soon as we reach the maximum nr of exhibits.

We are putting the entire show on a more sustainable footing and we hope you will be supporting us. We all enjoy our classics and collectable vehicles, but being from a bygone era, environmentally friendly they are not.

We'll be giving you the opportunity to help us by adding this 30p to your donation.
Entry for exhibitors is, as always, by a donation to The Friends of St John the Baptist. Donation options are on our website and can either be made on-line using PayPal or by sending in a cheque. You can GiftAid your donation if you wish.

Biddenden Tractorfest is an annual event, now entering its 8th year. It is run by the registered charity Kent County Agricultural Society along with a team of volunteers from all walks of life and occupations who are dedicated to making the event both fun and affordable for all the family.

The event is also keen to support and welcome local crafts and businesses and this helps to boost the friendly, easy-going nature of the show.

While tractors, cars and commercial vehicles remaining central to attracting visitors, the essence of Tractorfest is the provision of a gentle summer day out in a country fair setting with nostalgic sights and sounds. Tractor rides, numerous arena displays such as dog shows, falconry, working horses, craft stalls, children’s entertainment, enticing local artisan food & drink and fantastic live music are just some of the attractions that make this event a must visit.

Corona Virus and the Tewkesbury
Classic Vehicle Festival 2020

Important Event Announcement

Following many successful years of organising the Tewkesbury Classic Vehicle Festival, I regret to inform you that the event, due to take place at Tewkesbury School on Sunday 23 August 2020, will no longer go ahead.

The Rotary Club of Tewkesbury and its’ Classic Vehicle Festival organising committee have deemed it irresponsible to proceed with organising such a mass gathering. With visitor numbers now exceeding 5,000 at the popular one-day event, we do not want to become a potential ‘hotspot’ for spreading the Covid-19 virus. The safety of our exhibitors, performers, volunteers and visitors is paramount - we value you all far too much to take that risk!
Our “Keep Calm & Carry On” approach is no longer practical with the Covid-19 situation continuously evolving. Whilst the Government guidelines may well stipulate different measures for ‘Festivals’ by August, the threat of a possible second wave still looms over us. We’d rather return with peace of mind in 2021 and look forward to delivering an even bigger and better show.
If you have already purchased your entry tickets, be it a visitor, a show vehicle exhibitor, car club or trade stand we would be exceedingly grateful if you could roll it over until next year. By doing so, you will not only be supporting the shows future sustainability but all the marvellous charities that the event supports.
As you can imagine, the cancellation of the event will have a significant impact on the support that we can provide this year to the chosen charities. It’s so disheartening, especially at a time when they need it the most. If you kindly choose to roll your tickets over, simply retain your receipt/ticket to present at the event in 2021.
If you wish to obtain a ticket refund, please contact our ticket provider The Everyman Theatre directly by emailing: exchanges@everymantheatre.org.uk
For Trade stands enquiries please contact Rebecca Leppard, email: rebecca@eventspr.co.uk
I would to like to take this opportunity to apologise for the disappointment caused but thank you most sincerely for your support during this difficult period.

For further details or to be kept up to date about future event news, please visit the website:  https://tewkesburycvf.org/ or follow us on Facebook tewkesburyclassicvehiclefestival we are currently hatching exciting plans for a secondary automotive themed event for the Spring!
We look forward to welcoming you back on SUNDAY 22nd AUGUST 2021. Let’s hope 2021 will be a brighter year for us all!
Kind regards and stay safe,
Dick de Leeuw
CVF Coordinator and President Elect of the Rotary Club of Tewkesbury 2020/2021

The George , Middle Wallop, Hampshire

I expect you may all be wondering what this is all about, but let me explain. The Landlord of the George Hotel in Middle Wallop has asked if I know of anybody who would like to meet-up for an informal get together for the bank holiday Saturday on August 29th. This will be a gathering of all sorts of transport starting from 11am and stay as long as you like, or just turn up whenever.

The rear garden will be opened up for this so lots of lovely lawn to park on, and away from the road. The Kitchen will be open all day and earlier if required, with bar snacks available if preferred, the homemade doughnuts in hot chocolate sauce are to die for, and the pizza is as near to authentic outside Italy.

There is no entry fee, just turn up and chat to like minded enthusiasts, whether ancient or modern, two four or more wheels, and however powered, even if it involves pedals. Also just for a bit of fun, there will be a small prize for Landlords choice.

The location is in Middle Wallop on the A343 right next door to Pinchbecks Garage, with the Army Air Corp airfield and museum 1/2 mile away. Come along if you can, or how about a club run as a finishing point.

All the best.   Pete.
