HAYNES. Discovery Days - Tuesdays & Wednesday (through July & August) - Tuesday 24th July to Wednesday 29th August

Is your family up to the challenge of taking on some of the Haynes Discovery Missions?  Working together you will need to employ all of your detective skills. With each mission your first task will be to identify an object or objects contained within a mystery bags.  A member of our team of Volunteers will be on hand to talk you thought the task and help with the identification as well as sharing knowledge about the objects. Once, the object/s have been identified you will move onto the next part of the mission:  You will have to find some hidden information in the Museum Collection in order to answer a specific question or list some accurate facts.

In total there are eight exciting new missions for this summer. Aimed at families, this is a fantastic chance to explore the Museum and our Education Centre, as well as getting hands on with some artefacts from motoring’s past and present.

The Gloucestershire Vintage & Country Extravaganza is an annual event which returns to South Cerney Airfield, near Cirencester on the weekend of Friday 3rd August - Sunday 5th August 2018 and is the largest show of its kind still run entirely by volunteers.  Each year the show features the popular Steam Arena, with non-stop steam demonstrations and literally thousands of vintage vehicles from classic cars, tractors, commercial vehicles, vintage bus and coaches, motorcycles, scooters, traction engines, miniature steam, industrial trucks, military vehicles, caravans to emergency vehicles

Haynes Breakfast Club - 1st Sunday of each month,

Calling all motoring enthusiasts! On the first Sunday of each month we host a breakfast club which is open to all marques. As well as meeting other like-minded enthusiasts, owners can chat over a coffee and a hearty breakfast (from a full English to a bacon roll) in Café 750. The very popular Museum café is open from 9am on Breakfast Club Sundays.

These events are free to attend and are a real opportunity for vehicle owners to show off their prized possessions at the front of the prestigious Museum

The wöldinghamring classic   A free gathering for all pre-1990 classic cars takes place from 9am to 11am every third Saturday of every month throughout the year at Botley Hill Farmhouse, an early 16th century country inn on Limpsfield Road, Warlingham, Surrey CR6 9QH. This is 3 miles south of Warlingham on the B269.

The event is a static gathering in the midst of some some wonderful driving roads though the scenic North Downs including the famous wöldinghamring.

20th 'Capel Classic Car & Bike Show' in aid of St John the Baptist Church in Capel, West Sussex. Rectreation Ground, RH5 5LB. Show Focus this year is "1968" i.e. cars and bikes having their 50th birthday. As always the show combines with the Capel Horticultural Society Summer Show. An event for all the family with something for everyone. The show opens to the public at 12.00 and tickets cost £5.00 per adult (Children under 12 are 'free', car parking is free). ClockTower Classics Fest that will happen on August, the 18th.

 Attracting an audience of over 5,500 in previous years, this annual classics show, located in The Guildhall and Square , Portsmouth  will this year feature over 100 classic cars, bikes and scooters, market stalls inside and outside the venue and live music and DJs.

Haynes Bikers’ Breakfast Ride-in - 3rd Sunday of each month, starting 21st January

Calling all biking enthusiasts! On the third Sunday of each month we host a breakfast ride-in which is open to all marques of motorcycle. As well as meeting other bikers, participants can chat over a coffee and a hearty breakfast (from a full English to a bacon roll) in Café 750. The very popular Museum café is open from 9.30am.

These events are free to attend and are a real opportunity for vehicle owners to show off their prized possessions at the front of the prestigious Museum.

 I have organised and run the vintage and classic vehicle section of Egham Royal Show for over 30 years and have a great turnout of vehicles from both my regulars and new entrants.   I have between 80 and 100 vehicles turn up each show day.  Vehicles range from the 1920s to the mid 1980s and include cars, motorcycles, commercials and custom / special cars.   Each entrant gets a brass commemorative plaque and there are also small cash prizes too for the various classes that are judged.
